Frequently Asked Question
General UIS instructions for printer setup with a Mac can be found here https://help.uis.cam.ac.uk/service/printing/desktop/dsprintmac however it doesn't really explain how to install the print driver, if you've not done it before it's really not obvious.
Firstly you'll need to know which version of the Mac OS you're using. Instructions how to upgrade to the latest 'Big Sur' version can be found here https://www.apple.com/macos/how-to-upgrade/. We'd always advise running the latest version of the Mac OS, so you might want to do this before you continue.
Click on the Konica link and search "c300i" which is the main printer in the ITRC. Download the appropriate driver for the version of OS that you're using.
You'll get a license agreement pop up and two options for files to download, select the larger of the two, for example:
- IT6PSMACOS_223AMU.dmg (45306 KB) (this is the file for the Big Sur OS)
Once that's downloaded, you need to open it and then open your downloads folder in a Finder window.
Double click the file you just downloaded, it should appear like a drive, you then have to open that.
Find the file to install by opening the pkg file and unpack it.
(It could be called something different but will probably look like this)
You may have to find C300i within a folder labelled A4
This begins the installation process for the driver, just click through that Continue (x3) then Agree, and Install, enter your Mac password and it will install the driver.
You can then refer back to the https://help.uis.cam.ac.uk/service/printing/desktop/dsprintmac page and pick up the instructions from the Configure a print queue steps.
In step 5, the print queue name you need is Mur_FindMe (to sub for the CS_FindMe shown in the step 4 graphic). This should be enough to get you set up. A good indicator that it's correctly configured is that the icon for the printer you've just added actually looks like the printer we have in the ITRC!
You just need to remember that when you send documents to this printer you'll need to enter your CRSid and password, not your local username and password that you use to sign into your Mac, this is a common error made by users.
The printer your documents will be sent to is labelled Laptop & MCS Printing.
