It's possible to have documents embedded in Teams, but you'll need a Team or Channel as a location for it to sit in. This is only really advisable if you want your entire department to be able to edit the project or document. 

Select 'Add a tab' with the + button just under your search bar which gives you plenty of options to consider utilising.
